- The Garnier Serum Cream Is a Multitasking Game-Changer
No one on the Skincare.com team identifies as a beauty minimalist, but most of us can’t pass up a good multitasking product. A moisturizer with SPF? A hydrating primer? A cleansing mask? Count us in. So when we heard that Garnier was launching a line of serum creams, another skin-care product hybrid, we were very much intrigued.
The launch is part of the brand’s new Green Labs line (now available at Walgreens), a collection of skin-care solutions born out of a combination of nature and science. The formulas are free of ingredients like parabens, mineral oils and dyes, efficacious and come housed in eco-friendly packaging. In addition to a trio of serum creams, the line also includes three complementary cleansers.
What Is a Serum Cream?
Our — and we’re guessing your — first question is What is a serum cream? Garnier describes it as a product that offers the hydration of a moisturizer and the potency of a serum. Plus, the brand’s version contains SPF 30 broad-spectrum sun protection, so really it’s a serum-cream-sunscreen hybrid. As you might expect, the texture of the formula is creamier than a serum, yet more lightweight than a moisturizer.
Like most serums, these are formulated for targeted benefits. In Garnier’s collection, the Pinea-C Brightening Serum Cream works to visibly improve dull and uneven skin, the Hyalu-Melon Replumping Serum Cream targets the look of dehydration and fine lines, and the Canna-B Pore Perfecting Serum Cream helps balance oily and combination skin and minimizes the appearance of pores. There really is an option for everyone. And of course, all three help hydrate skin as well.
The serum creams are formulated to work as your daily moisturizer, serum and sunscreen in the morning in a single product (though we always recommend re-applying a separate sunscreen on top to help protect your skin throughout the day). Because of the smooth texture, we find that the serum creams also serve as a great base for makeup. Basically, your morning routine just got a whole lot easier.
To learn more about the line and how to use it to get healthy, glowing skin, visit a Walgreens store between November 19 and November 21 and meet with a Walgreens Beauty Consultant. The retailer is also offering a buy two, get the third skin-care product free promo during the three-day event that you don't want to miss out on.
